You ask, what is GHRA? GHRA is the local Clinton, Iowa chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). We are a thriving organization that currently has over 70 members and continues to grow. Nine monthly meetings are held throughout the year along with a half-day symposium each fall. Topics vary from HR to front line supervision issues and even include some fun along the way. Our goal is the same as the national SHRM organization; “Serve the Professional- Advance the Profession.” The monthly meetings are a great way to network with others working in human resource or supervisory capacities within the area.
GHRA was founded nearly 40 years ago by a small group of human resource managers from Clinton and surrounding areas. In the early days the small group met in the evenings to discuss problems and share ideas directly related to the human resources field. As times changed and legislators passed new laws, the group began to grow, requiring the organization to change the meeting format and content to meet the needs of today's human resource specialists.
Gateway Human Resource Association meets every third Wednesday of the month at Wild Rose Casino. The hour and a half program consists of a meal, a speaker, and updates from SHRM. Lunch is served from 11:30 AM to 12 Noon, with the meeting starting promptly at noon.
